Window Comparator Circuit Design
The window comparator detects input voltage levels that are within a specific band or window of voltages instead of indicating whether a voltage is greater or less than some preset or fixed voltage reference point.
Window comparator circuit design. So the first thing that should be done is powering of the chips. The breadboard circuit of the circuit above is shown below. The modified window comparator circuit we will build with 2 lm741 op amp chips is shown below. Figure 5 depicts the proper operation of the window comparator.
In this article we will elaborately learn how to correctly design comparator circuits using popular ics like ic 741 ic 311 and ic lm339 difference between a comparator and op amp the ic 741 is an ideal example of a single op amp and the ic lm311 can be considered a good example of a dedicated single comparator. So the first thing that should be done is powering of the chips. T vh vin vl vout time s 0 00 10 00m 20 00m t 0 00 5 00 10 00 figure 5. The breadboard circuit of the circuit above is shown below.
A window comparator will output a voltage between two selected voltage points and be off outside that range. A window comparator is basically the inverting and the non inverting comparators above combined into a single comparator stage. In order to power the lm741s we apply 5vdc to v pin 7 and we connect v pin 4 to ground. Notice that when the input v in is between v h and v l the output goes to the pull up voltage v p.
The outputs of the each comparator in the lm339 is a open collector transistors tied together and connected to a led and resistor.
