I would like to add a second light and a wall switch for both lights. You can do this light switch wiring in one of two ways.
With our new loft light now all wired up and ready it s time to get our switch in place and get that wired up also. It currently has one pull string light that has power running in it and out to a wall socket. Step 5 fix switch and wire up. The most common is to daisy chain the light fixtures by connecting them to each other and hooking the first one up to the switch.
The other way to wire multiple lights to one switch is to connect all of them directly to the switch in a home run configuration. 2 for each device switch or outlet but not light fixtures multiply the total by 2 for 14 gauge wire and 2 25 for 12 gauge wire to get the minimum box size required in cubic inches. Depending on what the wiring is for this may be go through the drywall to the ceiling for instance for new lighting or be farther down on a wall.
